Here is what we did: First the kids squirted some of the shaving cream into the baking trays and smoothed it all out. Then the students dropped food coloring onto the shaving cream and swirled it aound with wooden sticks. Next the kids placed their papers on top of the rainbow cream, pressed down slightly and then peeled back the paper to reveal a lovely swirled design. The results was a truly unique and beautiful background for our artwork.
Today the third graders got to have some good clean fun in the art room! Last week we studied the Book of Kells from Ireland. This week we are working to create our own illuminated page using some odd art supplies. To make our colorful swirled backgrounds we used shaving cream, food coloring and baking trays.
