Kinders at Voigt and Wells Branch get the opportunity to explore the first artwork ever found! We have been learning about the Cave of the Bulls in Lascaux, France. Some of the paintings in the cave were made in 30,000 BCE! At Voigt the kinders got to really see what it was like for the cavemen by crawling inside our class cave. Both classes used watercolor, chalk and tempera paint with sticks to make their art. Check out our beautiful cave paintings!

Last Friday the 5th graders got a special visit from one of Austin's amazing abstract artists, Gabe Langholtz! Gabe is the father of one of our own 5th grade artists, Sadie Langholtz, and was nice enough to come in and speak to the students about what he does. The kids got to see a variety of Gabe's work ranging from realistic to abstract pieces all painted on canvas. Gabe told the young artists all about discovering his passion for art, where he gets his ideas, and what the experience of making, exhibiting and selling art is really like. It was a very inspiring day for the 5th students and they are still talking about it! You can find out more about the work of Gabe Langholtz here: http://www.gabelangholtz.com/ |
